<image:title>Projects - Cultural Landscape Garden</image:title>
<image:caption>South Eveleigh This garden has been co-designed by members of the Local Indigenous Community. Through a collaborative process, the overall feel of the space was conceived, and key species were selected during field trips. A plethora of edible plants placed within the designed ecologies of food forests and perennial meadows allows the opportunity for responsible seasonal harvesting and reinvigoration of Cultural cultivation practices. Winding paths are hugged by mass plantings of feature species to create interpretive spaces for local tour guides. Spaces for contemplation and gathering are integrated organically, creating habitat for both people and wildlife. The plant palette boasts an exemplary amount of diversity with a strong focus on Sydney Region plantings and vulnerable species, thus creating an urban seed bank.</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects - Community Building Rooftop Garden</image:title>
<image:caption>South Eveleigh This unique pilot project is believed to be the first of its kind in the world. 500m2 on an urban rooftop dedicated to experimenting with native plants to determine the most suitable species, relationships and techniques for increasing biodiversity and obtaining a yield in this highly challenging and specific environment. Paired with an education and events pavilion, the venue offers the opportunity for intimate community interaction, mentoring programs and living infrastructure research. Importantly, the space creates a platform to amplify Indigenous perspectives with a significant focus on native plant cultivation practices, ancient and current. Indigenous Community members have been active within this space since its inception and continue to care for this garden and its visitors.</image:caption>

<image:caption>South Eveleigh An aesthetically pleasing swale in the form of a dry creek bed winds through this shaded sculpture garden and aims to address flooding issues, slow down stormwater and trap pollutants. The garden and creek bed sit below the much-loved Treehouse Sculpture by local artist Nell. A collaboration between Nell, Eveleigh Works and local community members. The dry creek bed and its surrounds have been filled with local native marginal species and unique rainforest specimens complimented by feature climbers wrapping the pillars of the walkway.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Director Clarence Slockee is a Cudgenburra/Bundjalung Aboriginal man with a long family history of bushmen, farmers and fishermen growing up in the lush Tweed Valley. Clarence intertwines his love of plants, education, culture, design and the arts into his role as Director of Jiwah. He is a graduate from the National Aboriginal & Islander Skills Development Association (NAISDA) Dance College and has gained experience across a broad range of performance mediums, but his passion remains with his farming roots and ensuring the biodiversity of native species. Clarence has over 20 years of experience in environmental and cultural education, including roles with the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, the Barangaroo Delivery Authority and more recently as Director and founder of Jiwah, a 100% Aboriginal owned company that delivers a range of collaborative projects including urban native species green space. For the past 10 years Clarence has been a familiar face on television screens across the nation as a presenter on ABC’s Gardening Australia. With regular segments on the TV series, he continues to educate people about medicinal, cultural and edible native plant species unique to the Australian landscape. A graduate of UTS Business School, Clarence is currently working with a broad range of collaborators to incorporate Indigenous cultural perspectives into green space urban design.</image:caption>
